Object Details
- Description
- This is a paper shopping bag used by a Nikon retail store. The Nikon Corporation was established in 1917 when three Japanese optical companies merged to form the Japan Optical Industries Co., Ltd. Nikon got its start as an optical instruments manufacturer and did not release its first camera, the Nikon Model I, until 1948. The company became more popular in the U.S. after an American photojournalist, David Douglas Duncan, used Nikon lenses on his Leica camera during his time covering the Korean War. Today (2015), Nikon is most widely known for its cameras and camera lenses but they still manufacture a number of different optical products.
