Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1942-3.; The so-called "Malay Quarter" in Cape Town, now Bo Kaap, was the home of South Africans whose forebears were brought by the Dutch East India Company to the region from the coasts of India and the Indonesian islands as convicts and slaves in the eighteenth century. The inhabitants of the Bo Kaap are predominately Muslims and maintained many of their ways of life.; There are no of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print for reference purposes.; The cataloging of the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection was supported by a grant from The Smithsonian Women's Committee.
