Object Details
- Manufacturer
- NASA Marshall Space Flight Center
- Summary
- This scale model (1:40) of portions of the Skylab and Apollo Telescope Mount docking system is an early concept model. This model has the command module attached at right angles to Skylab instead of linearly as in the final version. The presence of the Lunar Excursion Module as part of the assembly suggests a more complex mission than was later carried out. The vehicle that was finally placed into orbit in 1973 comprised a coaxial assembly of the command module and Skylab with the ATM attached at right angles.
- This scale model was transferred to NASM by NASA's Manned Space Flight Center in 1972.
