This black-and-white photograph depicts Mayor Marion Barry, Jr. of Washington DC, flanked by his then wife, Cora Masters Barry on his left, and Dr. Betty Shabazz on his right. The three are sitting in a row beneath a banner that reads “[...] WASHINGTON, D.C." along the bottom. Dr. Shabazz, wearing a dark dress and holding her purse in her lap looks to the right. Mayor Barry, wearing a suit edged with a traditional African pattern holds up two fingers in a peace sign. Cora Masters Barry, wearing a patterned dress and blazer, smiles directly at the viewer, while waving. In the background are two other figures, a man looking left and a woman, looking right.
