- Vik Muniz began each portrait in this series by making a snapshot. Using this as a reference, he drew its subject using unconventional materials such as chocolate and sugar, and then photographed the result. His Sugar Children series consists of photographs of drawings he made in white sugar on black paper of children whose parents and grandparents worked on a sugar plantation on the island of Saint Kitts, West Indies.
