German mail coach model
Object Details
- Description
- Robert Liebzcher of Dresden, Germany, crafted this model of a four-wheeled Kaiser Deutsche Post, German mail coach in the late nineteenth century. This style mail coach would be pulled by a team of four horses. It accommodated up to twelve passengers who traveled along the post roads in addition to several sacks of mail. German mail vehicles and mailboxes have long sported the distinctive yellow coloring used to designate the nation's postal system.
