Abstract
William and Lucile Mann travel with the National Geographic Society-Smithsonian Institution Expedition to the Dutch East Indies in 1937. William Mann collects a birds, animals and reptiles, a list and quantity of which is recorded at the end of the diary. The diary is a typed account kept by Lucile Mann, arranged by date, and provides location changes; descriptions of daily activities; explanations of collecting efforts; issues with securing, caring for, and transporting them; and observations. Some specimens were collected, others purchased from collectors or governments. Lucile includes notes of interest handwritten on the backside of the typed pages.
