- Description
- This handheld electronic calculator represents a further improvement on Casio's early handheld calculators. As on the Casio Mini, the display is to the left of the keyboard. The keyboard has an array of ten digit keys, a decimal point key, a total key, and four keys for arithmetic functions that are to the right of the digit keys. Left of the digit keys is a column with a memory key, a percentage key, a C (clear entry) key, and an AC (all clear) key.
- The on/off switch is below the eight-digit fluorescent display. A mark below this switch reads: CASIO memory-8R. A socket for a power adapter is at the top.
- A mark on the back of the calculator reads: CASIO memory-8R (/) BATTERY SUPPLY 1.5Vx2 (/) or use AC ADAPTOR AD-2S (/) 0.2W (/) Y-811 MADE IN JAPAN (/) BM CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. A compartment that holds two batteries is above this. A sticker inside the compartment reads: 4504646.
- This example has a black plastic sleeve that served as a carrying case. A mark on it reads: MADE IN JAPAN. A mark on the other side reads: CASIO.
- An October 1975 advertisement for several Casio calculators with memory asked: “When you’ve got a Casio Memory, who needs an elephant?" It indicated that the suggested retail price of this model was then $14.85. Further advertisements appeared in 1976.
