- Hahn William Capps (1903- ), an entomologist, received his B.S. degree from the University of Kansas in 1929. Capps joined the staff of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1930 when he was appointed Plant Quarantine Inspector with the Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine. He was made Assistant Entomologist in 1938, and Entomologist in 1940, a position he held until his retirement in 1964. Capps specialized in the study of Lepidoptera in both their larval and adult stages.

They include incoming and outgoing correspondence concerning the identification of specimens, publication of papers, and professional activities; notes, lists, manuscripts, and bibliographical references from his research; newsletters of The Lepidopterist's Society, 1959-1964; and annual reports which he submitted to the USDA, 1939-1952.
