- Scope and Contents note
- Written after Ward's return from the Emin Pasha Expedition. Thanking Pond for his letter, mentioning (Joseph) Ritchie, saying that he is finishing his book and adding "As far as I learn there is likely to be a great row after Capt. Barttelot publishes his book in defence of his brother. Mrs. Jameson is also publishing her husband's journal-- Troup has his book ready for issue and Bonny is preparing a very lengthy account of his experiences. I think the public will be awfully sick of this matter before long."
