- "Thank you very much for your letter, am glad to enlist another champion on my side in the person of your Uncle ...". Stanley was at this time at battle stations with the "Gentlemen Geographers", who were skeptical of his claims of finding Livingstone. The "Uncle" referred to was probably a Moffat, as Livingstone's brothers were out of the country at the time.
