- Concerns Capt. William Cornwallis Harris' book in the "Annals" and accuses him of plagiarism in the Appendix containing the descriptive Catalogue of South African mammals: "though he expressly tells us the 'descriptions have all been drawn by himself,' it is yet but too true that they are literally copied word for word from Dr. Andrew Smith's 'African zoology'..." Richard Taylor was a noted printer and naturalist.
