Scope and Contents
The photographs in this series have been divided into two subseries, "Portraits" and "Events" which are both organized alphabetically. Most of the portraits are headshots and photographs of NCAI staff and leaders as well as political figures and tribal leaders with whom NCAI maintained relationships. The events series contains photographs from events hosted by NCAI and attended by NCAI staff. Events include annual conventions, meetings with congressional leaders, benefits and workshops as well as national conferences related to the work of NCAI. A majority of these event photos are from the mid 1950s and 1960s and are well identified. The photographs from these years feature leaders such as Helen Peterson, Joseph Garry, Clarence Wesley, Geroge Frank as well as many others. There are a smaller amount of photographs from conventions and events in the 1970's and early 1980's which are for the most part unidentified. Though the majority of photographs are prints there is also a smaller amount of negatives.
