- Scope and Contents
- The NCAI Committees and Special Issues Files are by far the largest series in the collection. This material illustrates much of NCAI's substantive work on issues affecting Indians, including their lobbying activity, working with governmental entities, research, and educational activities such as publications and conferences. The series contains both records generated by NCAI staff, such as reports, memoranda, and correspondence, and a large amount of background material created by outside entities. There are 20 subseries, some of which are further divided into sub-subseries: Alaskan Natives; Policy Conference; Religious Freedom and Related Cultural Concerns; Hunting and Fishing Rights; Natural Resources and Indian Water Rights; Nuclear Waste; Solar Bank; AIMS (American Indian Media Surveillance) Committee; HCR 108 and Federal Termination Policies; Emergency Conference of 1954; Jurisdiction --NCAI Commission and Federal Legislation; Law Enforcement; Litigation Committee; Annual Litigation Conference; Trail of Broken Treaties Impact Survey Team; Block Grants; Health and Welfare; Self-Determination and Education; National Conference on Federal Recognition; and Economic and Reservation Development (unprocessed).
