- Biographical
- Andres Salle Casinas was born on March 11, 1902 in Duero, Bohol, Philippines. Historical records provide limited details about Casinas's early life; however, evidence of a sixth-grade level education exists. According to an Index to Alien Case File, Casinas arrived in San Francisco, California on February 15, 1924. Like many young Filipino men migrating to California, he found employment in the fields of Sacramento and San Joaquin, working sixty hours per week. The 1930 United States census documented a yearly income of $720.00. He shared lodging with twenty-one Filipino immigrant workers and their families. By 1940, Casinas had moved to Stockton, California and enlisted for the United States army on February 15, 1942. At this time, he was unemployed, stood five feet three inches tall, and weighed one hundred and thirty-seven pounds. Casinas was a member of the fraternal organization Legionarios del Trabajo, specifically affiliated with Daguhoy Lodge Number 528. Andres Salle Casinas passed away on September 18, 1973, at the age of seveny-one, in Stockton, California.
