- Scope and Contents
- This series contains negatives for Sultner's early life, from Detroit in 1929, to his early banking and musical careers in New York in the mid-1940s. Of special interest are his portraits of 1940s personalities, for example, Samuel Barber and Tennessee Williams. Material shot as publicity for his 1959 Asian tour and later color separations for lecture programs are in this series. Also included are negatives for many of the photoprints in Series 6. Sultner originally interfiled his black-and-white negatives with his transparencies of people. A particular individual may have been photographed in both media. Consequently, there is one list for people, found in the transparencies container lists, which acts as an index to the two formats. Box numbers (#115-123) are included for transparencies, and negative numbers (251.1-650.1) are included for the negatives.
