- Two passenger guide and regulation booklets, two price lists. Established 1822. Changed name to Peninsular Steam Navigation Company in 1837. Incorporated by Royal Charter in 1840, becoming the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company in conjunction of merging with the Transatlantic Steamship Company. In 1914 merged with the British India Steam Navigation Company. In 1918 purchased 51% of the Orient Steam Navigation Company. In 1961, P&O bought out Orient Lines and renamed its passenger operations to P&O-Orient Lines. Sometimes known as P&O Line.
