- Scope and Contents
- This subseries contains materials relating to Michael Gitt's lawsuit regarding the mandatory retirement age set for pilots. As Gitt approached "Age 60" in 1968, he worked with the "Age 60" Committee of the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) union to lobby Congress and petition the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for an extention. Finally, he filed an age discrimination lawsuit in 1969 against Eastern Airlines in the State of New York with lawyer F. Lee Bailey. Documents include legal materials, correspondence, newsletters, and newspaper and magazine articles. Materials are arranged chronologically.
