Scope and Contents
Includes Ball State University graduate student Dustin Cantrell's article, "A Life of Learning: Ruth Selig and Putting Anthropology into Schools," published in the anthropology students' on-line Journal/Newsletter, "Public Anthropology". Also included is Cantrell' article, "Putting Anthropology into Schools," published in the April 2003 issue of the AAA's Anthropology News, describing Ball State's project PALS (Placing Anthropology in Local Schools) as well as Selig's work at the Smithsonian. The announcement of the AAA's Anthropology Education Commission's 2002 Seed Grant Award for the PALS project can be found along with Cantrell's Masters' Thesis for Ball State, focused on the PALS program and the challenges of incorporating anthropology into schools. The folder includes two letters of recommendation Selig wrote for Lassiter and Cantrell related to their applications for teaching positions.
