Included in this Subseries are several documents Selig drafted, including 1) a "Proposed Reorganization" memorandum from the Secretary dated October 3, 1994, laying out his intention to consolidate all programmatic activities under a new academic officer, the Provost, and his intention to appoint Hoffmann Acting Provost; 2) Hoffman's memoranda to SI staff explaining the re-organization; 3) Regents Paper offering an overview of the Institution's programmatic activities; and 4) Report, September 20, 1995, summarizing the NMNH Board meeting held in Anchorage, Alaska, which Selig attended on behalf of the Provost. Other folders detail work Selig undertook for the new Provost Dennis O'Connor, including representing O'Connor at the 1997 Airlie House conference funded by the Wenner Gren Foundation focused on Challenges Facing the National Anthropological Archives (NAA), which led to Selig's detail to the Director's Office for assignment to the NAA for 1997-1998 to address challenges such as staff shortages (see Subseries 2, Folder 8).
