- This subseries comprises materials relating to Ralph Solecki's work on two expedtions to northern Alaska. The first was a joint Bureau of American Ethnology (BAE) and United States Geological Survey (USGS)- Office of Naval Research Party expedition along the Kowpowruk and Kokolik rivers in northwestern Alaska in 1949. The second expedition was to the Brooks Range in northeastern Alaska funded by the Arctic Institute of North America in cooperation with the Arctic Research Laboratory in Barrow, Alaska in 1961. It contains field notes, excavation and artifact catalogs, maps, publications and manuscripts, correspondence, and photographs from Ralph Solecki and his collaborators including geologist William Farrand, and students Bert Salwen, Jerome Jacobson, and Robert Blanchard.
