- Existence and Location of Copies
- While a Ph.D. student at The American University in 1972, Amy Zaharlick learned of the death of Picuris language scholar Felicia Trager and that her husband George Trager was looking for someone to continue her research. At Trager's invitation, Zaharlickhad copies made of some of the Trager's Picuris language recordings. When the two met again in 1974, Trager gave Zaharlick his original tape recordings.
- Scope and Contents
- This subseries consists of Puebloan language field recordings on 1/4" open reel tape made and/or collected by George L. Trager and his wife Felicia H. Trager from 1960s and 1970s. There are few earlier recordings which may be copies of material in Trager's papers at the University of California, Irvine. The titles of the tapes have been transcribed from information on the tape boxes. The content of recordings has not been verified. The sound recordings described in this subseries are considered "original" recordings in that there is no other tape or cassette with duplicate content in the collection. Tapes with duplicate content of the Tragers' language recordings made for Amy Zaharlick in 1972, have not been described here but are stored at the end of the series.
