- Printed text on verso reads: "Irumu. Femme dite à plateau. La femme qui subissait cette déformation, pour éviter les marchés d'esclaves, devait aggrandir petit à petit le diamètre du disque ou se résoudre à trancher la lèvre supérieure à fleur de joue." Translated postcard caption reads, "Irumu. Woman so called with disc. The woman who underwent this deformation to avoid the slave markets, had to enlarge little by little the diameter of the disc or bring herself to slice the upper lip at the cheek's edge."
