- Manuscript message on verso reads: "Mon cher Oncle et Chère Tante. Je t'écris de Matadi demain je pars pour Léo. Quand je serai à mon poste je vous écrirai plus longuement. En attendant je vous embrasses. Ch. Deneus". Addressed to," Mr et Mme Deneus. 51 Grand Place, Courtrai, Belgique." and from,"Ch. Deneus. Agent territorial. Stanleyville, Province Orientale, Congo Belge." Translated accompanying manuscript reads," My dear Uncle and dear Aunt, I am writing from Matadi. Tomorrow I leave for Leo.. When I have reached my post I shall write to you at greater length. In the meanwhile I kiss you."
