Chester Township -- Forkner Garden
Object Details
- General
- Remodeling and construction of an addition to the house at this site led to new landscaping of the front and back of the property. In the front a new brick wall was constructed, an aging tree removed, and new plantings of shrubs introduced. In the back, the low boxwood Buxus microphylla var. Koreana was placed under a newly installed window. In harmony with the site's wooded setting Rhododendron carolinianum punctuated the hillside above the house.
- Persons associated with the garden include Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and Dr. Claude E. Forkner, Jr. and Joanne Shirley Forkner (former owners).
