Summit -- Molnar Garden
Object Details
- General
- A steep bank led Lois W. Poinier to design a stone retaining wall that defined two garden borders--a narrow bed at the top and a three foot wide one below. Each level of the garden featured a lawn area, while the lower level also had a small flagstone patio with outdoor seating. Mature trees provided a backdrop, while one of Poinier's signature small pools was incorporated into the wall.
- Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and Julius Paul Molnar and Margaret Andrews Molnar (former owners). The Molnars' ownership is inferred from a reference to Murray Hill in the garden's file, Murray Hill being the site of Bell Labs, where Julius Paul Molnar was an Executive Vice President.
