Far Hills -- Hoopstick Farm
Object Details
- General
- This project began with the removal of a barberry hedge and overgrown shrubs along the front of the house. A formerly grassy circle in the middle of the driveway was planted with flowering trees, probably fast-growing pears, and a few shrubs. Dwarf shrubs and an espaliered yew against the side of the house provided a new, open feel to the site. Before and after images are included. Hoopstick Farm is notable as the original venue for the Essex Horse Trials, a pre-Olympic qualifying event.
- Persons associated with the garden include Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and Elliot and Jean Haller (former owners).
