Osterville -- Hoyt Garden
Object Details
- General
- The garden design for this new home incorporated water views as well as several distinctive features such as a swimming pool and rose garden. A stone wall defined the terrace on the water-side of the house, while the land-side approach via the driveway incorporated mature trees as well as native and non-native plantings of shrubs, grasses, and other vegetation. Images from a variety of seasons show garden design and construction as well as the completed work.
- Persons associated with the garden include Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and Henry Hamilton Hoyt and Anna Orcutt Hoyt (former owners). Lois W. Poinier also designed a garden for the Hoyts at their Short Hills, New Jersey, home (see NJ382).
