West Orange (Llewellyn Park) -- Burrows Garden
Object Details
- General
- Located in the now gated community of Llewellyn Park in West Orange, this New Jersey garden was originally landscaped sometime in the 1960s. At that time, the garden featured a flagstone walkway running along the side of the house and a screened-in porch. A side entrance to the house was designed with a brick porch with two sets of stairs framed on either side by planting beds and wall fountain with a niche. Below the fountain were stone steps and a retaining wall leading to a lawn edged with flower beds.
- Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer), Kenneth and Nancy Steward Walker (former owners, dates unknown), Nancy G. Burrows (former owner, 1950-1958), Donald M. Smith and Luisa G. Smith (former owners, 1958-1961), Alan L. Smith and Emilie Smith (former owners, 1961-1982), Drs. Marco and Rosario Fernando (former owners, 1982-2006).
