- This series includes published and unpublished writings by and about Jacob Lawrence and Gwendolyn Knight, as well as writings by others. Found in this series are speeches, notes and notebooks, essays, articles, lists, poetry, and short stories. Also included is a visitor comment book from the Los Angeles County Museum exhibition of Jacob Lawrence's Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass Series. Writings about Jacob Lawrence and Gwendolyn Knight include profiles and essays written as part of a student's coursework, including a paper by Marie J. Demery in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Arts at the University of Wyoming, 1973. Lists include inventory, illustration, exhibition, and slide lists. Also found in this series are memorial poems to Jacob Lawrence and short stories, some by unidentified authors.
