- Scope and Contents
- Writings include draft essays, articles, and manuscripts; lectures, speeches, and sound recordings of lectures including Hughes on Picasso and the 1974 Tom Albright lecture series; notes; notebooks including Hughes' research on the Chinese Opium Wars, Freud, Japan, and the MET; bibliographies; catalog introductions; a circa 2010 essay and outline on Rome; an annotated map of the Caribbean; and poetry written by Hughes. Many articles were published in TIME Magazine and included topics related to art theft and the art market, post-modern architecture, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Hughes' lectures included convocation and keynote speeches, Lee Krasner's obituary speech, and numerous talks given at exhibition openings, fundraisers, symposiums, and other art and literary events around the world.
