- Scope and Contents
- Professional correspondence includes letters, emails, and postcards from colleagues, artists, authors, historians, publishers, editors, lawyers, museum curators and directors, and other notable figures in the art and literary worlds. Correspondents of note include Ansel Adams, Frank Auerbach, R.B. Kitaj, William (Bill) Rubin, Lorna Pegram, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, John Updike, Norman Foster, and Sean Scully. Also included are a sound recording of a letter sent to Hughes in response to one of his publications, and letters sent in response to his writings, "Even the Vicar Hunts," "Art, Morals, and Politics," and "Why Americans Shouldn't Kill Cultural Funding." Materials are arranged alphabetically.
