- Scope and Contents
- Writing project and subject files date from circa 1950-2012 and encompass a large collection of alphabetical files pertaining to a wide variety of people including artists, actors, writers, thinkers, and collaborators; work projects including writings, exhibitions, panels, symposia, and lecture series; as well as various other subjects and topics. Many of the files contain research compiled for a vast number of writing projects including books, articles, and catalog essays. Included in this large assortment of files are manuscripts, notes, correspondence, photographic material, clippings, postcards, exhibitions catalogs and announcements, articles, brochures, and press releases. Files for Valerio Adami, Jake Berthot, Stephen de Staebler, Robert Israel, Robert Motherwell, and Octavio Paz contain many items of correspondence with the individual. The grouping of files related to Robert Motherwell document a number of projects Ashton completed on the artist, including exhibitions and books Robert Motherwell (1983) and The Writings of Robert Motherwell (2007).
