- Arrangement
- The series begins with personal correspondence arranged in rough chronological order followed by a file of personal correspondence between Amos and her son Nick. After personal correspondence, a mixture of personal and professional correspondence arranged in rough chronological order is followed by Amos's professional correspondence with students from class 311.

- Scope and Contents
- The series consists of Amos's personal and professional correspondence from 1952 to 2019. In Amos's early correspondence, letters with her parents and friends discussing school and traveling are prominent. Other correspondence is bell hooks, Moira Roth, and Ed Estes, as well as with galleries and arts organizations regarding Amos's artwork, installations, exhibitions, her association with artist groups such as Spiral, and a variety of other professional activities.
