- Description
- The Postal Service issued a 39-cent Ronald Reagan commemorative stamp on June 14, 2006 in Simi Valley, California. Howard E. Paine of Delaplane, Virginia, designed the stamp.
- The stamp honors former President Ronald Reagan, who died on June 5, 2004. The stamp art is a portrait of Reagan painted by award-winning artist Michael J. Deas of Brooklyn Heights, New York. The portrait is based on a 1981 photograph of Reagan by White House photographer Jack Kightlinger.
- This reissue of the Ronald Reagan stamp with the 39-cent denomination was first issued on February 9, 2005, with a 37-cent denomination. The 39-cent photogravure stamps were produced in pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) panes of twenty stamps by Sennett Security Products. 50 million stamps were printed.
