Smithsonian employees (and certain other affiliated staff, such as academic appointees) are required to complete a new SI Civil Training course (COMING SOON) on an annual basis.
New Smithsonian supervisors are required to complete a Fundamentals for Supervisors course, which includes information about SI Civil and related policies and reporting process.
There are also mandatory EEO courses for new employees and supervisors. For questions, contact SI_EEOTraining@si.edu.
Smithsonian management officials may contact SI Civil at any time to request specific training for their unit or office related to:
SI Civil Program Overview: This training provides an overview of the SI Civil Program, the Anti-Harassment and Workplace Violence Prevention policies, and reporting process.
Creating a Culture of Respect (supervisory workshop): This workshop provides an overview of the SI Civil Program, the Anti-Harassment and Workplace Violence Prevention policies, and supervisory responsibilities. Participants will also discuss prevention strategies and participate in breakout sessions to review scenarios.
Other training opportunities related to the SI Civil Program and related topics are offered, as needed.

SI Civil Handbook
This handbook provides further guidance and Smithsonian-wide procedural requirements under which Smithsonian employees and affiliated persons should report and respond to allegations of harassment, threats, intimidating behavior, or potentially violent situations.
