Museum and Zoo Hours

Smithsonian museums are open every day of the year except December 25, unless otherwise noted. Special spring, summer, and holiday hours are determined annually; see Special Hours below.

All Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo are closed due to the federal government shutdown.

Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily | 7 p.m. closing in summer*

    Visitor Center: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. | 6 p.m. in summer*
    Exhibit Buildings: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | 6 p.m. in summer* (Amazonia opens at 10 a.m. year round)
    Dining & Shopping: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | 5 p.m. in summer*
    *Summer hours begin March 15 and run through Sept. 30. Exact dates may vary each year. Please check Zoo for updates.
