The Smithsonian Associates Presents “Tim Gunn: How to Navigate Your Personal Runway”

March 11, 2015
News Release

The Smithsonian Associates presents an evening with pop culture icon, New York Times best-selling author and Emmy Award-winning host of Project Runway, Tim Gunn, Wednesday, April 8, at 6:45 p.m. in Rasmuson Theater at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. Gunn will discuss his career, what he has learned about mentorship and holding one’s own in a tough business—and in life.

Washington native Gunn was a former faculty member and chair of the fashion department at Parsons The New School for Design for almost 30 years. The fashion guru is always at the ready when the designer contestants on Project Runway need firm but kind advice on navigating creative blocks, questionable fabric choices or sidestepping an emotional meltdown. In this special evening, Gunn shares how to convey invaluable pearls of wisdom in an approachable, accessible manner. His new book, Tim Gunn: The Natty Professor—A Master Class on Mentoring, Motivating, and Making It Work!  (Simon and Schuster) is available for signing after the program.

Ticket prices for the Smithsonian Associates’ presentation are $25 for general admission and $20 for Associate members. For tickets and information, the public may call (202) 633-3030 or visit www.smithsonianassociates.org.
