The Gran Dama brooch, a featured piece of the May 1, 2014 reception “Gifts from the Ocean” hosted at the National Museum of Natural History, centers around a rare Melo pearl and was crafted by Gianmaria Buccellati, the same jeweler who designed the Smithsonian Cup.
