Giant panda breeding expert Tang assists Smithsonian's National Zoological Park scientists and veterinarians during Mei Xiang's artificial insemination. The procedure took place nine days after Zoo Director Dennis Kelly and Zang Chunlin, Secretary General of the China Wildlife Conservation Association, signed the Giant Panda Cooperative Research and Breeding Agreement, extending the giant panda program at the Zoo for five more years.
