Entertainer Eartha Kitt (pictured with President Lyndon B. Johnson at the White House in January 1968) was a supporter and honorary member of the Rebels with a Cause. After witnessing the appalling living conditions in Barry Farm–Hillsdale, Kitt spoke at a rally given by the Rebels. She recruited members of Congress and city officials to support their cause.
