An 1865 carte-de-visite portrait—a highly collectible albumen photograph on a small card—featuring American humorist Petroleum Nasby, pseudonym of David Ross Locke. The photo is part of an exhibition to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, “Experience Civil War Photography: From the Home Front to the Battlefront,” on display in the Smithsonian Castle in Washington, D.C. beginning Aug. 1, 2012.
