This design portrays the Southern Magnolia in an old-fashioned botanical print style, and the artwork is one of five art pieces used in the design of a five-set stamp issue.  The Southern Magnolia is the state flower of Mississippi and Louisiana, and the fragrant flower may grow 12 inches across and blooms in the spring or early summer.
