The stamp design was used to produce the first stamp issue commemorating President Johnson’s beautification initiatives, which were championed by his wife Claudia Alta “Lady Bird” Johnson, to beautify America’s public spaces. The stamp was reissued in 2012 as part of a six stamp souvenir sheet honoring her centennial, beautification and conservation initiatives.
