Dedication of the National Native American Veterans Memorial Nov. 11

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian will dedicate the National Native American Veterans Memorial Friday, Nov. 11. The event, which takes place on the National Mall between Third and Fourth streets S.W., begins at 2 p.m. with a Native veterans procession; the dedication ceremony begins at 4 p.m. This is a free event, open to the public. More than 1,500 Native veterans representing nearly 125 tribes and communities will take part in the procession.

John Herrington (Chickasaw) and Wes Studi (Cherokee Nation) will serve as emcees for the event.

Members of the media who want to cover the event should register online on the museum’s website. Media check-in will be in the museum; enter through the building’s south doors, located on the Maryland Avenue side of the museum. A press riser will be available on the National Mall; space is on a first-come, first-served basis. A clean, switched program feed is available at the riser via an HD/SDI Video DA, which will be 1080i (59.94) with two channels of embedded audio: mono and stereo. There is limited media truck parking; those needing parking should email haberackerb@si.edu.
