Ensuring Collection Care for the Future: Ongoing Research in Methods & Materials for Preventive Conservation


A special half-day event organized by the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum Conservation Institute, National Collections Program, and the National Museum of Natural History

Friday, February 9, 2018 from 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM (EDT)

This program brings expert practitioners in preventive conservation from across the country to discuss current and future trends in the preservation of cultural heritage, especially research into the materials used with collections and the methods used to test those materials. Speakers will represent a continuum of this research, providing perspectives on the development of preventive conservation as a discipline as well as avenues for ongoing and future research. This special event is designed to encourage forward thinking through opportunities to meet and hear from practitioners at the forefront of innovative preventive conservation research.
