Thank you for your commitment to the Smithsonian!
Our members are the backbone of the Smithsonian Institution, and your Friends of the Smithsonian membership gift is deeply appreciated by all of us here.
I hope you'll take a moment to ask your friends and family to join you in supporting the Smithsonian on Facebook and Twitter. Or send an email.
Every day, our curators, historians, scientists and other staff dedicate themselves to preserving our history and sharing it, free of charge, with the world. Your generosity helps provide that one-of-a-kind Smithsonian experience to every visitor who walks through our doors. It also helps fund new research and maintain the Smithsonian exhibits and gardens.
We are proud of the world-class exhibits, constantly evolving educational programs, art installations, and groundbreaking scientific research that make up the Smithsonian Institution. And it's inspiring to see that we have so many supporters like you, who are committed to helping us reach as many people as possible. Friends of the Smithsonian like you will keep us going strong – and opening minds – in the years to come.
Thank you again for your commitment to ensuring the future of the Smithsonian, and for giving more people the chance to share in the unmatched Smithsonian experience. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your membership contribution shortly. Your new membership card and welcome package with your official notice of tax-deductibility will arrive in the mail in the next couple of weeks.
Through your membership, you receive an array of exceptionally valuable benefits that will enhance your appreciation of the Smithsonian. Your benefits include an annual subscription to Smithsonian magazine, an exclusive 20% discount in Smithsonian Museum Stores, discounts at selected Smithsonian dining facilities, and a Smithsonian annual calendar.
A portion ($39) of your annual contribution is designated for Smithsonian Magazine. If you are a current Smithsonian National Associate, you may have remaining issues on your magazine subscription. If so, in order to prevent your receipt of duplicate magazines the Friends of the Smithsonian will adjust your new magazine benefit to begin when your existing subscription expires, and will continue it until the end of your Friends of the Smithsonian membership. By eliminating the duplication, the amount of your dues contribution that is tax deductible will increase. We will provide a statement of the tax-deductible portion of your membership in your acknowledgement letter.
