Facilities Management

Facilities Management (FM) supports the Smithsonian community by providing essential services including facilities maintenance and operations. FM serves as one team across the Institution’s facilities and is trusted to deliver safe services that enhance the Smithsonian experience for visitors and staff alike.

The Smithsonian, the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, relies on FM to operate and maintain the Institution’s facilities and grounds. The FM footprint includes ten zones, including the museums on the National Mall as well as facilities in Virginia, Maryland, and New York City. The work encompasses central maintenance, energy management, organizational development, Smithsonian Gardens, and Facilities Business and Technology Services.
