On view are 51 quilts by 31 leading male and female African American quilters celebrating the recent renaissance of African American quiltmaking. The art of African American quiltmaking has gained recognition over the past 20 years as both a political forum and domestic craft. Designs range from the depiction of traditional African dance and stories of creation to patterns used to educate children in mathematics. This exhibition is organized by the founder of the Women of Color Quilter's Network Carolyn Mazloomi and the American Craft Museum.
