This exhibition focuses on the rich tradition of portraiture throughout Latin America. It features approximately 115 paintings and sculptures spanning 2,000 years, beginning with pre-Columbian effigy vessels from Peru's Moche culture, to works from the Viceregal and Independence eras, to a modern 20th-century self-portrait by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Most of the works on view have never before been shown in the United States.
